Well am sad to report there was a winterkill of fish this year. It was devastating to see the carnage of fish washed up on the east shore. I did an informal survey and here's what I found: 85% Channel cats...all of them really nice fish (1 to 5 #ers), 5% Grass carp (40 inchers), and 10% Largemouth bass, crappie, white sucker, and bluegill. Surprisingly no dead trout and I assume they got fished out over the season. Parks and Wildlife were out there yesterday picking up fish. Bald Eagles at least are eating well!

Itís unfortunate for sure, but my guess is thatís the problem when the majority of the state is under drought conditions. Water is such a precious commodity, and as Colorado grows, so do the problems. Hate to be a downer, but I wonder if we will be seeing more of this in the future?

No more drought for a few years I hope. it's not good for all these trophy fisheries to lose great fish.
