Fish: Rainbow Trout

St. Vrain SP

Post By: JTurner      Posted: 12/29/2020 8:58:06 PM     Points: 6
Took the boy to St. Vrain today at Noon. There were six people scattered across the South and West side of Sandpiper. As a gentleman came off I asked about the ice, and he said 2.5. I walked out and found 3, so I was ok with the 10 yo in about 3-3.5 fow.
I punched two holes 4 apart, and we caught 5 stockers in about 45 minutes with Atomic Teasers (20 bait of the year?) and a little piece of prawn.
Overall we landed 11, and missed a few smarter ones in 3.5 hours.
It will be cold tonight, but forecast high of 40 tomorrow. It will probably be ok in the morning, but not sure how the ice will hold up.
Sorry, no pictures, but everything was in the perfect for kids range and hungry of 8-12 or so. All but two went back for us.

Thanks for the report. Those atomic teasers have been fire when it comes to fishing. That ice may hold up for a few weeks with these colds but I advise everyone to have a spud bar on them because those lakes change daily.

Went out this morning to st vrain. 4 inches of ice in most of the lake with about 3.5 near the shoreline.

Thanks for the report. Please concider submitted it as a lake update. It will earn you some points here on the site and make it a lot easier to find the info for anyone looking for that lake specifically.
