Brook Trout - High Alpine Ice Fishing Video

Traditionally me and Basschaser from the forums here love going on a high elevation hike to target some Brookies. It was roughly a 5 mile round trip to one of my favorite lakes to target brookies and lakers. I was primarily going after the Brookies. They're spawn colors are stunning. We ended up catching over a 100 fish, with some Lakers in the mix. Here's the [log in for link] to the video.

i take it the gates are closed n you hiked that whole way from the lower gates?

3way, yea all the gates are closed it was a full 2.5 miles up and down, it's not too bad, that first 1/4 is the worst.

You should. Red tubes with chartreuse tail did well. I didn't even give anything bigger then 1.5 inches a try. I bet if you get a 3.5 inch tube on and explore , you might hook into something nice. My buddy caught a 25 inch laker which is rare there. I figure those lakers are munching on 3 to 6 inch brookies all day!

You know I would think so too but when you have an addiction like some of us do the hike is nothing but a challenge you're willing to take on to get to some ice fishing. The peace and serenity is why I go up there for the fishing is a bonus.

I'm glad you texted me that photo after I finished the hike and on my way home if you showed it to me before my hike back I'd been a bit paranoid for sure! :D
