Fish: Brook Trout

High Alpine Trout (Brookies, Bows, Splakes)

Post By: Team CO.F.F.      Posted: 11/10/2020 1:50:18 PM     Points: 86
Went into the high country, up above 10K this past Saturday, and had a lot of fun figuring out the Trout Bite in the snow! It was cold rain at lower elevations and no one wants to fish in that, so I figured heading into the mountains to fish in the snow was a better idea!

The snow was off and on most of the afternoon while I was fishing but it was a comfortable low 30's so I didn't mind at all...First two and a half hours went by with a few small taps and a fish getting off (Using 2" swimbaits on a 1/16ozjig), switched a few patterns and went to a pop-sink type method, only reeling to get slack...This was what the trout wanted and I proceeded to land 11 in my last hour of fishing😃🎣 Got some fun drone shots during the breaks in the storm, made the lake look even cooler imo and some underwater releases of the fish I caught! Hope you all enjoy the fun time out!!

Great video Tyler! Way to go getting on them in the snow. I like how you position your net to trap them when you are solo.

I know, sad times...Was at a smaller lake the next day scouting before filming my next video it was roughly the same elevation and had a ring of ice around it and ice was forming as the day went on (17-19 degree day and cloudy). We're getting somewhat close, this cold front we're getting should help.

Compared to the other week at the Frying Pan, this wasn't too bad but yes definitely still cold...Just more acclimation for the Hardwater season😋

I was really itching to get outside that day and fish and figured this would be a good idea haha. Ya I figured it was big enough to act as a basket lol, was hoping to get really really lucky and get a giant splake that day.

Hoping the last few days did some work up there...Smaller lakes at least had rims forming around them. I like pre-ice fishing too though, usually a good time for active bites.

Good stuff as usual Tyler, love ur vids and drone views. Hey as much GM still water as you do, Iíve not seen you try fly n bubble setup? My latest fav is FnB with Pistol Pete- ďPee Wee PeteĒ in the Mafia pattern, absolutely deadly setup. ADub...

Saw this late, sorry ADub! I have gotten that comment before, just something that never crosses my mind when I'm out fishing, this would've been a good day for it probably...I'll have to do that since fly fishing in the cold weather sucks.
