Rifle Gap is LOW but the bite is ACTIVE!

Showed up to Rifle Gap Reservoir this past Saturday and had great success landing into 4 different species. Walleye, Pike, Rainbow Trout, and Smallmouth Bass...EVERYTHING caught on the Ned Rig. 3"Gary Yamamoto Orange Pumpkin Senko and also a pink/orange 2" Micro Minnow swimbait for two of the fish.

Rifle Gap is really low right now, lowest I've ever seen it...My GF who has lived out in or near Rifle for most of her life hasn't ever seen it this low either. We pulled up around 10AM and the lake was full of rises all over...We walked out to a spot that is revealed in the video, that isn't normally accessible for bank fishing unless you take a boat to it...Muddy to get to but worth it. The rises were a mixture of bass, pike, and trout that I could see. Tried a multitude of moving baits but the Ned Rig was the best way to go...Had a guy fishing next to us later in the morning that caught a couple on the Ned Rig as well. Was surprised to get a few pike on the Ned rig too lol.

Hope you guys enjoy the video! We stayed until very early afternoon, a windstorm was coming in and we decided to head out after a good late morning of fishing!

It looks like the water level is down and the fishing is up. Great video and thanks for sharing.

Yes indeed! Hoping to get an early morning bite in sometime in the next few days!

Thanks man! Do you ever make it over here to fish Rifle Gap?

Yes! Not as often as I have in the past! This one is from the Reservoir east of there a few years ago! It was fishing better this year than in the past couple of years! I might be going there soon!

Oh my God! No joke, I've been snapped off in that exact same spot twice...That is a great catch, hoping to pull in a giant for ice fishing there!

COFF- Ive been bit off/snapped off on 3-4 giants before I caught a 33,32 and this 40 1/2! After the first 3-4 lost I switched to 40-50 lb braid to a 50 fluorocarbon leader and so far no bite offs! Ive heard of 44+ fish caught out of there. Good luck! 🎣👊🍻

Is it frozen now?

I would safely say no, I haven't seen it but I drove up to Harvey yesterday after work to scout and that is no where near ready yet.
