Round Two Browns On The River

Post By: bharper      Posted: 10/8/2020 10:38:26 PM     Points: 262
Good day fishing the Colorado River with my friend Chet! We both stuck a real nice Brown in the same spot within 10 minutes of each other on a 1/4 oz Crappie/Marabou Jig! I also landed a couple chunky Bows back to back! We ended up landing 46 Trout between us!

Hero worship all over again!! You guys are hurting my feelings!!! Great job. Those jigs are such a trouble free way to fish.

My buddy has a drift boat, lucky me I guess. We have floated above State Bridge but not below. Any suggestions for some streamer fishing?

NParker- I usually check River Reports and see what flies are working to match my marabou/deer hair colors to those flies! Lately anything in Brown,brown/orange,and grasshopper colors are working! Brown/Orange have produced well the last two trips. We havenít even had to go to the trusty black colors but I would try that if the other colors arenít working for you! Havenít tried white combos but you might want to give that a shot as well? Good luck! Catch a bigginí! 🎣🤙

The River Reports are helpful. I think we will float in the Glenwood area. Sounds like an Autumn Splendor may be the ticket?

My buddy and I are headed for the Colorado River today and fishing for 4 days, mostly floating. Suppose I should take my Crappie Jigs? I have tied some nymphs on jig hooks used mostly for Euro nymphing.

We did float the river yesterday with a guide and got about 75% Rainbows and 25% Browns. The biggest Rainbow was 21 inches. I learned a lot and will be back.
