We won a Fishing Tournament!

Post By: Team CO.F.F.      Posted: 9/22/2020 2:15:08 PM     Points: 57
Fished at the annual 4H Club Jackpot Fishing Tournament in Rangely, Colorado and we TOOK FIRST!
Nothing crazy competitive, 6-7 team field with 3-4 people on each team. Had a great day though, pulled in over 54 LBS of fish, including a near Master Angler Carp! This fish was enough for us to also take the Heaviest Fish and Longest Fish of the tournament.

The weather started out at mid 40's that day but got up to the mid/high 70's by late morning/midday...The bite increased with the rising temps and we wound up having a spectacular day throwing around Carolina Rigs and Hair rigs. LOTS of double ups, including self doubling up at the same time (Pictured below). I've never had to do a double armed hookset before with 2x rods, really fun!! This is the latest in the year I've ever fished Kenney Reservoir, and it was nice to see the water surprisingly clear(for Kenney) that day!

Hope you guys enjoy the video if you get time, pics as always if you don't! 😃😃😃

Well done Team CO F.F., congratulations!
(By the way, what happened to the fish after the weigh-in? Just curious.)

Appreciate that Bron!!! Much better weather and no food poisoning this time made for an enjoyable tournament!! Our fill in (Coach Tanner) crushed it too, glad we got to take him up for a good time.

Thank you very much! Had a blast competing/fishing...All the fish are given up to people to eat for first dibs, then every other fish is donated to all the farms in the area for fertilizer😃 At the big tournament in June, someone kept ALL the bullheads and channels, said it took half a night with three people and electric knives to filet everything😩😩

I think the competition would be in trouble if you did Dan! They're really fun and if you had to do one for the first time, I would recommend a team one...It's a win-win, even if you get last you still got to go out with your buddies and fish all day😀 Appreciate that! It was a lot nicer to fish in a tournament where I wasn't suffering through food poisoning and bad weather haha.
