Fish: Colorado River Cutthroat

VERY ACTIVE CRC Bite!

Post By: Team CO.F.F.      Posted: 9/17/2020 3:28:18 PM     Points: 57
Had a great time about a week ago on the Mesa...Hit a lake pretty far back that is normally a "Quality over Quantity" type lake for us, we're pretty happy to get 3-5 solid fish if that when we go...The day we went we landed around 20!! Wide variety of presentations too...
1) Live Worms
2) HD Trout (Various Patterns)
3) 2 " Micro Minnows (Various Patterns)
4) Black and Yellow Panther Martin Spinner
5) One lone catch on a Kastmaster spoon (Red/Orange Pattern)

Fished half of the lake and the bite was good throughout...Bank Fishing and Belly boating! This isn't on film but I lost EVERY fish but one at my feet bank fishing...The one I didn't came off about 10 yards in front lol. Was pretty frustrated for a bit, not going to lie 😂
The mission was to get Sam into her first Tiger Trout ever, she can never seem to get them lol.
Hope you guys enjoy the action! Pics too if you don't have time to watch the video!!

Thanks man! You really should, especially if you have knowledge about some of the deeper/harder to access lakes...A handful are VERY VERY Low and we're betting they won't survive winter. Luckily this isn't one of those (hopefully stays that way)...GL Hunting, something I maybe will add to the channel one day!! Are you asking how the bite is typically in November or if I can do a video for the November bite up there? Sorry just wanted to be clear before responding😀

It depends since the last few years up there have been so unique with the weather...BUT if there was a time to fall fish up there, it's this year I feel. Couple others I know in RL and on forums have been having INCREDIBLE days up there...Last weekend one of our old timer fishing buddies hit this same lake and caught 13 tiger trout and 2 cutties lol. Lots of lakes are getting low(like most across the state), and it seems to be heating up the trout bite!

Otherwise all the flies are gone by that time so jerk fishing and slow cranking small lures like HD Trouts are a good call...I hear Scuds are great to use up there too in the fall but I haven't personally done that since I started fly fishing this year. My buddies, including Remy, that fish up there all break their PB's in Mid-Late fall though! Sorry for the long answer.

Thanks man! We plan to start hitting it again pretty hard after taking a month break from it...You trying to imply you need a fishing partner?😀

Thanks man! Good to be back up high on the Mesa again😀 Looking forward to a good fall (hopefully)!

Appreciate that, we always have a good time up on the Mesa. Glad we had a high score day too! Going back out this weekend to a different lake to see if we can get Sam that elusive Tiger Trout!
