I've seen some strange things fishing on Antero/Spinney, (The Thunderbirds practicing close formation flying, USAF running contour training drills in C-130's and helis, tornadoes, etc), but this was a first.
I could see it from the south ramp, but didn't know what it was until I got close. Has to be a weather balloon - about 5 ft in diam and 12 ft tall, dragging a sensor package and antenna.
Really strange thing was it seemed to be designed for water landing. Strange because what are the odds in Colo you'll come down in water? The sensor package floated upright, it had weights to stabilize the balloon, and was dragging a sea anchor to limit its drift. It must be valuable, but too big to load up and carry in. It did have a phone number on it, but I'm not a cell phone guy, so hope someone else called them.
