The Mile is my Mistress

Post By: anglerwannabe      Posted: 8/29/2020 5:07:45 PM     Points: 59330
The Mile is certainly my mistress. She beckons me to her. She's beautiful, an enigma, tantalizing and teasing. One day she has a ferocious temper and yet another a calmness. But on most days she's a bit of both. She'll flirt and tease you with her bounties, allowing a little bit here and there but mostly she's selfish and hold tight her prizes. Then there's days like today where she rewards you for your patience.

Nice tanks Jim, she may be your Mistress but she can be a fickle "B" too.

Thanks Guys!

greg - fat and long? It can be a challenge to measure on the toon. But I did stick her nose in my armpit and her tail went past the tips of my fingers

Russ she can be fickle.. check this out.. my blog from June 2017 and I specifically say she can be fickle!

That's a great fish, no matter how you measure it.

Might consider getting one of these if you want to get quick length measurements without extra stress and time out of water for the fish:

I've measured fish up to 26 inches in mine, including a 25 incher that i2fly caught last year :). The telescopic handle is REALLY nice to have also.

Skunkmaster that essentially the net I usually use. But I took off the basket and replaced it with a ghost basket. The ghost basket is deeper and large loops makes it easier to untangle hooks

I can see how that would be more important for quicker fish handling and release when you're using multi-hook lures.

Something else I've been carrying lately is an inexpensive luggage scale, for which I verified accuracy by weighing dumbbell plates, so I can weigh the net with a fish in it. However, I can't get it to budge with just the net, so am not sure what, or if, I need to subtract for the weight of the net . . . Anyway, for whatever that might be worth.
