Lake: Taylor Park Reservoir

Taylor Park

Post By: Beto33      Posted: 8/17/2020 9:15:44 AM     Points: 60
So we are headed up to Taylor the 27th-30th. after going back in posts a couple years, it seems like the reservior action on here is 90% hard water. I have iced it several times but never even seen the lake in the warmer months.

So far it looks like my uncle will be taking his boat, however its not set up for trolling so most likely be trying to jig and or bottom fish off the boat. Does anyone have suggestions for this trip? it looks like shore fishing around the inlets is the most common reccomendation as far as shore fishing goes.

Thanks,

I am one who ices it mostly. The few times I shore fish it, I have been fly fishing and usually manage some bows. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Try walking down the somewhat steep shoreline near the dam. I would try a bubble completely full of water, a 7ft leader with a minnow pattern. Deep deep water there so maybe give it a little action as it sinks and swim it up with a slow/ med retrieve. Maybe tip it with a small piece of crawler.

Get 70fow and deeper and jig some lakers. They should be willing to play. Early mornings will be the best imo

I'm assuming same jigging practices as the hard water season?

I troll the east side in the shallow water with crank baits for pike.

We catch a lot of cigars but now and then one in the mid twenties.

So far only caught stocker rainbows. Mostly trolling larger kastmasters. Lost what I'm assuming was a laker last night just cause the depth (jigging). Havent marked many fish. Although I'm just using a deeper pro. Mostly for depth. Have the rest of today and tomorrow mornin...
