Lake: Barr Lake

Sad News for Barr Lake

Post By: algae man      Posted: 8/4/2020 4:34:30 PM     Points: 438
If you are planning on taking the boat out to Barr Lake, you ought to consider doing it pretty soon.
According to a Parks staff member the lake will only be accessible to boats (not including hand launched) for another 2 to 3 weeks.
She informed me they will be draining the lake to "conservation pool" so the head gate can be repaired.
Visibility is down to 1 ft due to algae bloom, and the temp. ranged from 73.5 early AM to 77.5 around noon.

That is too bad. Good thing the fishing has been lousy the last couple of years. Hopefully the remove a bunch of the carp while it's that low.

I failed to mention that the lake is currently down about 11 feet.
We were able to catch 1 nice perch, 1 small wiper, and 3 small 'eyes.

Do you know if they are still open to boaters? I was thinking of going out tomorrow. Also, Id be going by myself, is there a dock, or is it impossible to launch by yourself
