Fish: Colorado River Cutthroat

Underwater Cutthroat Action!

Post By: Team CO.F.F.      Posted: 6/23/2020 10:03:18 AM     Points: 57
Recently was up DEEP in the mountains fishing with my buddy...We came across a huge group of Colorado River Cutthroat Trout. We of course fished for them but we wanted to see if we could film them too. Luckily they were crowding around a small current provided by a little spring, flowing into the lake...This meant when we spooked them, they would eventually come back!

We spooked them a lot! It took a few hours of brainstorming and trial and error to figure out how to film them but we figured it out!! I had to lye on a giant boulder (big enough for both of us and a third to lay on) that was right over the spring tie on my GoPro to my fishing line and slowly drop it in.

The results were amazing and I got some AWESOME FOOTAGE!! To be honest, I was pretty giddy and proud of myself afterwards lol.
Really hope you all enjoy the footage! It's worth it to see this one!!

Great capture on the GoPro! Find myself looking forward to your new posts. The bluegill catch & cook was awesome too. Would love to see how those guys chill below the surface also

Thank you! It was really exciting getting this footage. Lots of whisper screaming to my buddy lol. I'm glad you've been enjoying the posts and videos of my fishing adventures. That's a good idea, they aren't as line sensitive as trout, I could tie on some braid and try vertical jigging.

I got pretty lucky I feel, just glad I got to film that...honestly couldn't believe they weren't spooked by the camera, a lot of them were curious about it. I had to cut a bunch of footage out because they would bump into the camera and send it spinning haha.

Thanks Skiman! Didn't think the trout would stick around when the camera got dropped in but they seemed to not mind it at all lol. Glad it all worked out in the end...Would be cool to put a small camera on a lure haha and get a fish to bite.

Haha Thanks SirGreg!! We were fortunate that the trout were being so cooperative that day for the camera! I feel lucky to have filmed that!!

Beautiful fish and footage. Job well done. Next time you will have to attach a lure to your camera, Ha.

Thanks so much you all and I'm really happy you all enjoyed the footage! Reviewing the footage had me at the same level of excitement as catching my first fish haha. Amazing the fish weren't scared of the GoPro, the amount of footage I had to take out was a lot due to the fish bumping my GoPro constantly and sending it spinning... As Wmdunker said, maybe next time I'll have to figure out how to get a camera on a lure hahaha!
