Lake: Spratt-Platte Lake

Skunked Again

Post By: Jetfixer444      Posted: 6/18/2020 8:12:06 PM     Points: 95
Went there late morning. Just one family was there. Iíve fished here a couple of other times. Now I know why I donít come here. I know there are huge trout in here. I caught one but got loose while trying to land it. Iíve seen large carp cruise close to the shoreline. I donít know what the problem is. Iíve seen bait dunkers fish there ignorant of the artificial lures only rule. Writing this lake off.

This lake is ruined by the bait dunkers. They will literally show up with those 5 gal buckets and throw out worms -- sign posts are ignored. Even my telling them goes ignored.

I don't know why there isn't any enforcement. I live in the neighborhood across the street and I see bait dunkers on the weekly. These idiots also trash the area.

Bait dunker here. I've been over there twice in the last few weeks and spaced out the artificial flies & lures only part. I won't make that mistake again. If it makes yall feel any better, they didn't want the live bait either. Water is clear enough to see nice bass going after the green castmaster w/trout spots

killum, I don't blame you for making that mistake. Looks like the "Minimum Bass Size and Catch and Release" sign has been removed, so despite the 2020 regs on paper, if CPW, or City of Thornton (whomever is responsible) aren't doing anything about this then I think it's all fair game.

Let me also add that the only thing that is posted here concerning fishing is a reminder on how bad fishing line can be for the environment.

After living here all my life I just found this place. :) I've only caught one SMB and lost a lot of lures.

Before I first went I checked the regs for the ponds and there is nothing about bait restrictions on CPW or the Thornton site. Never seen any signs up at all.

I don't use live bait but it's nice to know that it's not allowed.
