Family Fishing // Going to Learn FlyFishing

Samantha's Aunt and Uncle came to visit us recently, of course to see Sam but they also wanted to go fishing with the both of us! We wanted to get some channel objectives done and also take them somewhere nice so we went to one of the main clusters of lakes up on Grand Mesa. We hit Alexander Lake and Hotel Lake, and got into a few decent trout. Neither Sam nor I had ever fished either of these. Sam's Uncle also had an unfortunate hand hook with one of the crankbaits.

Lots of activity, really thinking if I had fly fishing down I would've landed 10x more fish as lots of them were rising and eating bugs off the top.... Speaking of that I've gotten the fly rods all lined up and ready to go, going to start practicing some casting and hoping to get out and get into some bluegill this weekend (Friends tell me best place to start if learning on my own). REALLY REALLY EXCITED TO LEARN THIS TECHNIQUE!!

Back on track, had a great time with Sam's Uncle and Aunt, wish we would've gotten them into some more fish. We considered belly boating but didn't want to leave Sam's Aunt and Uncle on the shore LOL. Hope you enjoy the video, we switched up the intro on this one!

Before you start fly casting look up fly casting videos from Lefty Kreh on U-tube. World renown fly caster and fisherman.

CO.F.F if you need any one on one instruction. Please reach out to me. I have a good friend that is a casting instructor. He was a personal friend of Lefty’s. Book him for a couple of hours. He knows how to teach fly casting not just talk. I2

Sorry just now seeing this. We really appreciate the offer, we're going to wait until next warm season to get some actual lessons from anyone. After the whole COVID mess that screwed up our travel plans and also fly fishing plans to have someone show us, we decided it would be fun to just start our first season as green as can be with no instruction. Just going off of videos and helpful hints/tips from people. I'm sure when I start posting my videos i'll get a lot of (welcomed) criticism! lol. Thanks again man!

You would be surprised what you can learn by just going at it yourself.

Nice! I used to get into quite of few Bows north(by the trees) of where you guys were.Probably not the best area for fly fishing from shore? 😜 🎣🤙

We had our belly boats and planned on doing that, that day but we didn't want to leave Sam's Aunt/Uncle behind on the shore haha, it was sort of spur of the moment going fishing together. The second lake, the trout were rising all over the place from out deep to shallow so i figured it probably would've done some damage, at least that day😀

Honestly that’s how I learned. A few pointers from here and few YouTube videos, but it was mostly just getting out and making a bunch of mistakes till I figured it out. Just like any other form of fishing though, you don’t ever stop learning. It’s fun. Get out, make a fool out of yourself, get frustrated and have fun. You’ll figure it out.

Haha i plan on posting/vlogging about it from day one, we're pretty excited to be honest! I'm going to be very open to criticism too so when I start posting those and you see anything glaring or something that could be helpful, let me know😀
