New to Steamboat Lake by boat

Post By: jhawker23      Posted: 6/9/2020 10:14:53 PM     Points: 0
I live near Steamboat lake and finally bought a boat. Time to learn some new techniques and species. I grew up on Midwest lakes trolling and drifting with a little spin casting for eyes and stripers.

Are there any recommended reads?

What are proven techniques from a boat? I am not a fly fisherman.

These guys mainly cruise the lake vs hanging on structures, right?

I also have the same question on lake trout and stage coach.

Fished steamboat lake yesterday and the boat ramp by the visitor center is closed. Not sure about the other one by the campground. You might want to call before going up there.

Only the ramp by the marina is open so far this year. They also have taken away the ability to drop paper work and seals this year, must wait for the gate to be unlocked. This is due to idiots not following the procedure correctly. Found out the hard way opening weekend, when I waited 2 1/2 hours to launch the boat because of the new gate.

Im glad that you were able to eventually get on the lake. Appreciate the information about the other ramp being open now others wont have to wonder if its open and be disappointed.
