Lake: Lon Hagler Reservoir

Wreckstar's conditions report

Post By: hunter creek      Posted: 4/28/2020 11:53:37 AM     Points: 2871
I've been afraid this would happen at the Hag as there are a lot of people who go out there and show complete disregard for the rules. ie parking along the shoreline, fishing from the dock and leaving trash all over the place. The restroom is no surprise as some real "pigs" use that . All I can say is that it won't be long before they shut that place down and those who will scream the loudest will undoubtably be the abusers. RIP Lon Hagler.

The outhouse on the south side of the lake is completely unusable. Trash, diapers, clothes, human excrement, etc almost covering the entire floor and covered walk in area. Not sure what's wrong with people and why they think it is OK to litter this way. I'm also not sure why the bathroom is never cleaned. I frequent the Hag at least once a week and the pile grows every time I'm there.

I really hate to see an area trashed like this. I think 99.9% of the people that frequent this site will not be the ones to leave trash and messes like you see at Lon Hagler. It's the low life's that do stuff like that. I have started to include a mention of the cleanliness of a lake in my updates so folks can come prepared. Either bring extra trash bags to help clean the place up or avoid it altogether. If all things are equal and I only have limited time to fish on a certain day, I will choose the lake not overrun by trash, over the lake the needs a truckload of trash packed out.

If I had it my way, trail cams would be set up to capture pics of the people that do this and post the pics online or plastered right on the signs as you drive in. Trashy people leave trash behind.

You have to look a little higher up to find the source of the problem . . . . .this is learned behavior.People don't wake up one day and say " Hey! it's a great day to go trash the lake" . . . .They learn it from their parents and their parents learned it from their parents.
Just my two cents worth.

So true HP. The old mentality, out of site out of mind always plays a factor in peoples decisions on trash.

This form of learning goes on in many other parts of life.Just check out someones kids manners . . . .Dad told me once "show me your friends and I'll show you your future"
The other one dad told me was "manners cost nothing".

I'd absolutely help with a voluntary clean up but a lot of that stuff is bio-hazardous.

Yeah Fishingmanlee, the out house mess is definitely hazardous. I don't even know how we would go about cleaning up that mess, but I do pick up trash and take it out every time I am there. If we all would do that, it would definitely help matters.
