Best Ice Off Day Ever!

Post By: Team CO.F.F.      Posted: 4/23/2020 1:05:05 PM     Points: 39
Had an INSANE day recently up at 7.7K, hitting a lake that was just icing off...It was a really warm day so after the first hour, the dam wall opened up about 10 yards and a nice ally of open water was available...The Minnows were THICK AS GNATS from one end of the dam wall to the other (Pictured below)!

My GF and I were using 2" Micro Minnows from one of my sponsors (also pictured below). I figured with all the minnows being in the shallows (didn't think there was going to be this many) during these times, the small paddletail would be a great call...We were there for a few hours and I estimate we caught around 50...Almost every cast was a fish lol.

Did my first How-To video on pulling trout in with softbaits, hoping I did a good job of balancing explanation of tips/techniques and fishing action! I don't normally request that you guys watch the video but really eager to know what you guys think! (if not, still attached pictures :D )

If I did not know better, I would say you guys must have been fishing at the hatchery. Looks like a blast.
Thanks for the tips and tricks

Haha seemed like it. We couldn't have timed the ice off any better. The trout were going ballistic in that ally of open water!! We even had to cut out a bunch of catches for time sake...Also couldn't believe the amount of minnows in the shallows. I expected some but not that much. Glad you enjoyed man! Hopefully you have been able to get out and fish!

Nice! Looking at the “minnows “, they almost look like trout fry. Could it be you got there right after the stock truck? Not implying anything, just a little curious. Thank you for your posts and videos!

How many minnows per pack? Looks slick! Good job playa!

Quite Possibly! Most of the lake was still frozen over but I don't know when they do the stocking. We brought out belly boats and there wasn't nearly enough water to do that...If it was that, it was good timing haha...Those minnows were THICK from one end of the dam wall to the other. When we got there it was really warm but windy, and the ice was still touching the dam wall, an hour later 10 yards of it opened up and thats when I saw all the minnows. Glad you have been enjoying them :D

5 Per pack and includes a 1/16oz Ball head Mustad Hook. Use the code in my description in my videos so you get a discount, should you choose to order anything from there...I didn't mention this in the video but the durability is really good too. With those hard fighting, fat trout you would need to switch out i'd say ever 10-15ish fish. But really never got to the max because we were testing a lot of different patterns.
