One Last Try for Taylor

Post By: johnski      Posted: 3/15/2020 8:18:04 AM     Points: 6184
Well my sled is almost ready to put up for the open water season. I still would like one more chance at Taylor, but the last report mentioned slush and I am a sled-puller, which is tough. I am reorganizing things in light of the Corona Virus and I figure ice fishing is one of the safer things to do. (Not much human contact out there!). So if anyone has updated conditions report, please let me/us know. Its 140 miles one way so I need the best info if I am going to make the drive. Thanks amigos!

I'm the one who did the last report. If I were to fish it, I would ride my sled to the edge of the lake, and then snowshoe to my spot. The weather was nice enough to go without a hut. If you have a Smitty sled, I'd take that. If your snowmobile is a trail sled, don't even bother. If you have a powder sled, I'd do a few laps to the lake edge to pack a trail down before I hooked a sled to it. I definitely would not try it alone. Hope this helps, good luck if you go.

Thanks Das....I'll think it over a bit. Sounds like a lot to take on.

I heard this weekend that there was 30" of ice and NO slush - just rumor, but from a good source. Please let us know if you do go...

Hey again Johnski, fished it 3/8, had no problems with slush. Thick snow and thick ice but easy to get on the lake walking on old tracks. However this was a week and a half ago now, and conditions can obviously change pretty quick, but I also head this last weekend that it was still 30" ice and no slush. We had a pretty slow day, caught a fair amount sporadically
