Perch Cook on the Ice! Can't do this much longer

Post By: Team CO.F.F.      Posted: 3/5/2020 5:40:51 PM     Points: 48
Was out on 3/1 hitting Harvey Gap up to do a Catch and Cook episode on the ice! Was really lucky to hit a big school of decent eaters (for this lake) on my first hole and they never left the entire day! Got the video done and had a lot of fun with the GF making it! We got some nice drone shots of the area and lake as well as non-stop perch catching. Ran into some slimers too but let them go right away.

Ice was a solid 16" where we were but by end of the day, my ice thickness of my hole shrunk almost 3". Ice was cracking under me ALL DAY, felt crazy at times. Water fall area was looking pretty sketch so I didn't even go near it...With this really warm weather we're getting over here on the Western Slope IDK how much longer Rifle GAp or Harvey will be ice fishable. Supposed to be near 70 Friday/Saturday around here!

Hope you guys enjoy the video though, pictures too as always for those who are just here for the report!

Very nice - and I agree, this warm weather over here is going to eat up some ice. I plan to hit Blue on Sunday but not sure how many more trips I will get in...

Ya I think most if not all lower elevation ice in our area will be done after this weekend. Going to ice fish grand mesa lakes through April at least though i'm hoping. Hope you have good luck at Blue, wonder how the ice is over there?

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words, wish I would've brought a cutting board so I could've done the cleaning portion better. Turns out using a Hawg Trough Ruler isn't the best. Haha I would hope so! :D

Glad you enjoyed the day. Not everybody appreciates drones flying overhead, and they are illegal at state parks outside of designated areas.

"Drone use in state parks is limited to those parks with a designated area for model aircraft use. Even then, drone operators should be aware that it is illegal to harass wildlife"

I'm well aware of the rules. These shots were ALL Taken outside of state park lines. Thanks for sharing though.
