Lake: Echo Lake

Ice FIsh-able?

Post By: Rowan      Posted: 2/24/2020 6:30:02 PM     Points: 71
I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not there is still no ice fishing on Echo. I know this reg was put in place a few years ago and was wondering whether it has been reverted or not. I'm planning on heading up to a cabin around there this coming weekend and was wondering if it would be a waste of time to bring my gear. Thanks for any info!

Haven't heard anything but for how low it was in the fall I would bet it's dead
I would go to George town or evergreen lake if you really want to fish. Also talked to a biologist in august that told me echo is not re filling something to do with under water water table. Supposed to look into it this summer.

There was a post that ice fishing is not allowed at Echo anymore. And Riper is spot on--prolly winter killed anyhow.

Last year According to Denver Parks ice fishing is allowed but no power augers on the ice. Yes it would be a waste of time to fish as it winter kills most years and the lake level has been low the last two years and even lower this year than last. The lake is only 7 foot deep in a normal year and it was a couple feet low this year so I think there is zero chance of any fish being alive.

Riper69, do you have the name of the biologist you talked with, would love to talk with him.

Cheers ya'll. I didn't know the lake was that shallow as I have never fished it before. We are staying at a lodge very near there so I figured if it was doable that it would make for a very convenient and quick trip. I suppose this will just have to be an ice fishing free weekend, lol.
