Trout stream maps - public access, etc

Post By: zpope      Posted: 2/9/2020 7:31:26 AM     Points: 3
Hey All,
Wanted to solicit feedback and spread the word on a mapping project Iíve been working on called TroutRoutes. Long story short, I mapped out and rated over 2,000 streams in Colorado, mapped out every land parcel that offers public access (easements, state parks, SWAs, etc), mapped out thousands of parking spots and boat launches, and then thousands of miles of trails to help us identify cool trails along streams. We also have USGS stream gages for real-time stream flows, interactive stream elevation profiles to identify tailwaters and elevation changes, and other cool features. Couple of screen shot examples attached- one of the Deckers area and another in RMNP.

Itís currently a free resource on the app store on both Apple and Android.

Any ideas to make it better? Things you like or donít like? Hit me up! -Zach

Is this a free site or is there a charge?

It requires an account. Would like to hear why... what does having an account do that not having an account (which does not appear to be an option, unless I missed it) wouldn't?

Thanks! It sounds interesting.

It's completely free now. Eventually we'll have to migrate to a subscription model, as this is a large project that I've been full-time on for quite a while. But we'll add some more features like offline maps and possibly more states before doing so.

Banzai-
I strongly dislike requiring folks to create an account. My biggest pet peeve honestly with other apps. That said, we decided to add this to allow folks to create their own content. Imagine being at home on a tablet doing trip research, creating interesting points on the map, favoriting a few streams, eventually you can make notes and draw lines of trails. Then you hop into your car and use the app on the phone. Today all your content is synced between all devices using your account, so thats pretty cool and worth the pain of the one-time account creation. But I hear ya, I struggled with deciding to add it!

This is another option?

Thanks for explaining, Zach. No different than what I do in AllTrails where I save off trails that lead to fishing. :)

I've pushed four (I think) reports out. App is crashing at launch. I thought it was my device, which did need several system updates. But after getting all the updates installed, it's still crashing. I noted in the reviews others are having this problem, too. Thought I'd share this here, versus adding another 1-star review to the pile.

Any insights on when this'll be fixed?

Ughh. Thanks for patience Banzai. Definitely having new issues on Android, not a fun platform to develop on. Hoping to have them addressed within a week, not likely sooner. Apologies and thanks for restraining on the formal reviews...

Benzai made some updates that fixed it for others, hopefully it works for you now after you update.
