Just make sure you are using no bait or scents and punch your barbs down.

Rangers will be checking you and pretty sure you can only drill 2 holes.
Call the park and ask .

You can only drill two holes? Why is that?

Hand powered augers only in RMNP

I just called the park and was told hand augers only , artificial flies and lures only and barbless hooks only. No limit on the number of holes and was also told that the dam got blown out in the flood of 2013 and there are NO fish in the lake any more !

As an alternative, consider going a bit S to Brainard Lk which has fair access to the lake and a very good Brookie population.

I went there during Christmas/New Year, and drilled several holes across the lakes....everywhere I drilled, it is filled with weed that starts like 1 feet below the surface...very difficult to ice fish there....

I understand not wanting gas augers out there but I wonder if electric power would be expectable now a days? Anyone know what that rule is for? Sounds like an outdated rule. Just curious

I was told NO power anything at all in the park and Lilly Lake is in the park.
And I called this morning.

Too many "no's" for me . . . . .there are much better places that are closer to home.
