A friend of mine and I went up 285 this morning at around 6 am on our way up to Tarryall. We hit a dead stop traffic jam just north of Kenosha Pass and wound up turning around.
I heard CDOT opened 285 up at 10:30 am or so in both directions. They said 285 near Kenosha Pass was closed due to ice, high winds, and blowing snow. It was so odd because 285 up to Kenosha Pass and all of the live cams I looked at near Como and Fairplay showed clear to slightly icy roads.
I believe there might have been an accident up there also but I am not sure. CDOT was saying that chains, 4 wheel drive, or all wheel drive are required.
I can't say anything about the roads leading up to Jefferson lake but I figure it will probably look the same way.
