Hook Guru needed

Post By: Hawaiian Punch      Posted: 1/13/2020 6:50:14 AM     Points: 7788
Here is a tough question . . . .I am looking to buy some uncast jig hooks. I looked at BPS and found some that will work for now,but I would like a longer shank on the hook as I'm building ice jigs and want a hook with the eye at a right angle to the shank. The hook I found are Eagle Claw 570-6 ANZ EMPLOM QTY 100 SZ 6.
This is a good start, but I think a longer shank will fill my bill just right.
In your replys, please give me as much info(where, who, how) as possible.
Thanks,
HP
All you Perch guys . . . .pay close attention. This will be the one for Aurora!

The only hooks I use are circle hooks so the only help I can be is to check eagle claw store off of Colorado and I70. good luck

Iíll second barlows tackle. Another site would be lurepartsonline.com. I buy from both . Reputable companies . If I remember LP has a forum called anglers workshop. They are diehard make yourself and make it custom types. They might be of some help

Not sure if this fits your bill, but Allen Fly Fishing has jig style hooks available. Smallest is a sz1 and about 1.25" long.

I wanted a longer shank . . . .it took the guys at EC a bit,but they hit it on the mark . . .we get ice that's fishable at Aurora, you will see it in action.I did some homework on this one*
The nice guys at EC were able to get me a 50 count of the hook.I really did not want the 100 count.

Thanks everyone for your ideas, but this was a I need to touch it kind of deal that I just could not do on line. The guy at Eagle Claw went out of his way to match and find the hook then searched for the longer version of if and to top things off,he got me 50 hooks, instead of the box of 1000 that they sell . . . .50 of this jig will keep me happy for many years. Now if Amazon would hurry up with the rest of the stuff to make my idea into reality . . .

Hey HP are you putting some jigs together kinda like the ones I gave you ??
With the small lead head and a bigger hook. I have a friend in SLC that makes me some jigs with 1/8, 1/16 lead heads and a big 2/0 or 3/0 hook. They are great for walleye jigging.
