I grew up in a small mountain community, can't even call it a town, and know of several back country lakes that back in the day were loaded with brook trout. I used to fish these in the summer with the fly rod and you could always count on a 30 fish day with 6-10" brookies. Something I never tried however was snowshoeing in and trying to get some through the ice.
Just curious if anyone has some experience on catching brookies through the ice at higher elevations. Just curious as to depth and bait choices. I have plenty of experience icing stocker trout and warm water fish in the low lands but really want to give these brookies a try over the holidays.
I appreciate any help i can get.
