Lake: Standley Lake

Closed toTrailered Boats

Post By: skiman      Posted: 12/3/2019 2:32:55 PM     Points: 2817
Read in today’s Denver Post that the city of Westminster is no longer allowing trailered boats on Standley Lake. Their concern is with quagga mussels, and the issues they are having with infected boats not being deconned properly, especially those from other states and impoundments. Kayaks, canoes and other non-trailered watercraft will still be allowed. FYI

Saw the 9 News report . . . .They said it's for one more year.I guess they can do that till the cows come home. Now that there are no boats allowed,it might be time to get myself something that's allowed?

The rule was in effect all of this year. There is a pretty active Facebook group dedicated to trying to change it. Also a push to install city council members who are sympathetic to the cause. I think they won two seats this year, but obviously not enough.

Personally I think they are using this as an excuse to close the lake.

I was there a month or so ago and 9 news showed up and interviewed me about it.

I guess I'll have to just roll with the punches and bust the canoe out!
