Place to rent a hand auger near Denver?

Post By: Jewlz      Posted: 12/3/2019 6:08:19 AM     Points: 0
Iíve got a date set to go on a guided trip with Austin from discount tackle but just to be safe I would like the option of doing it myself as well. Can anyone point me in the direction of a place to rent a hand auger? Also what kind of presentation should I focus on to catch fish, whatever fish is easiest to catch on Chatfield reservoir. My guide said small mouth are plentiful and would be happy to catch a few but if I go at it on my own I would be happy with catching small panfish. Will regular wire hooks and pinch weights with a live worm do the trick? I se lots of folks on YouTube using small jig heads tipped with a wax worm?? Any help with a general presentation for the most/ easiest fish to catch is greatly appreciated. My main target is Chatfield reservoir but I am staying in Thornton and will fish anywhere I am allowed to fish Iím not picky. Thanks in advance!!!

Hit bills live bait on washington, buy a dozen minnows, and get some wax a couple of the small swedish pimples, take off the treble hook and put on the single hook that it comes with...easier to unhook fish when your on them and get your jig back far as the auger...most people would be happy to pop you a hole or two...

If you got a date with Austin from Discount, you got everything you need other than the right cloths. I have lived in the Denver area for 61 yrs and never heard one bad word about Austin. I'm going WAY out on a limb here, but if for some unheard of reason Austin can't make it,I will take you out ice fishing.I'm not a guide, but I should be able to put you on some fish.

Same goes for ice fish with me . . .I got everything for you but the cloths.
Call and I'll dial you in on the tackle we use . . . .hint: 2#line and 16 oz Tungston jigs. Go to You Tube and check out "Tuned up" ice rods . . .especially the Perch rods.

Never leave me alone . . . .I got to thinking,if you can get out with Austin . . .my offer still stands . . .lets talk and see if we can extend your fun. BTW . . .leave your rod at home, ice rods are way different.I'll bring you up to speed over the phone. Is Chatfield where Austin and you are going? I'd like to take you to Aurora res. if there's enough ice,its a whole different kind of lake and has a huge perch population that we will target. The perch can run between 8-10 inchs and up to 12 -14 inchs
my tennis shoe is a size 12
I am semi retired,so . . .we fish when they work! That's right . .I have week days off!
When you going to be here?

Before I bought my hand augur from Discount I found a gas augur for rent from A1 Rental at 7080 38th Ave. Not sure if they still do it but you could call.

You might be better off buying a used auger. Than trying to find a place to rent one.

There are a couple on Craigslist.

Here is a link to one.

Thanks for all the great information. I have already made some calls and have a general idea of where to go and what to get.

Hawaiian Punch, thank you for the invite I really appreciate it. I will be able to fish one of my three days in town. 14-16th of January, I havenít set a date with Austin yet but the only day he has available is the 16th and yes he suggested targeting smallmouth bass at Chatfield. If you would like I can send you a text message to the number you posted if that is a cell number. Those are some really nice perch in your picture!

jewlz . . .click on Gosse's "Regional Editor" it should open his page then look for "how to contact" or something like that.
Yes you can text me at that number . . .looks like your almost locked in with Austin and my offer will be there if Austin can't make it. As I said before . . . .ain't never heard a bad word about him . . .your in great hands with him.
If things do fall through . . .we fish for perch.
Would you be so kind as to file a conditions report when your done?
Even better start a fresh thread and post pictures and comments.

I won't be out there for another week but if you are in South Park, give me a call I have a hand auger I used a couple times that you can have.
I figured out after ice fishing a couple times that I'd rather just go down in the garage and beat on my thumb with a hammer until it hurts really bad..... then I stop and put some ice in a glass filled with bourbon or rum.
