Not sure if wiper is what you caught but I think what you caught is a big white bass.

Wipers in Boyd? Well thats not an easy answer. For the most part the fish people are catching are white bass and that one pictured appears to be one. There are lots of 18 inch white bass in Boyd. However there are reports of a few true wipers being caught from time to time. Personally ive caught one actual wiper in Boyd that was 27 inches long and weighed 7 lbs. Ive caught countless white bass. The wipers are thought to have just come into the lake through the inlet, possibly from Horseshoe. While filming a segment with the parks people during some net samplings Chad talked to the biologist about the white bass/wiper in Boyd. They reported seeing possable back bread whipers/white bass they call F2s in alot of the waters below Horsetooth. F2 hybrids are thought to be a mix of true 50/50 wipers naturally spawning with true white bass. We have seen these fish in Horsetooth for years. They pulled core samples from them a few years back and confirmed that back breeding was happing in Horsetooth.
