Diggins and I spend Friday at Spinney on a beautiful but cold day. Started out at 3 degrees but once the fog burnt off it turned into a great day. Fishing was slow at first but picked up by afternoon. Little to no wind so had to try a few techniques before we found a winner. Turned out slow trolling was best with bladed baits and cranks or slow retrieving tubes. Diggins got his first Spinney brown so that was the big achievement on Friday. Ended the day with 18 between us and a few nice chunks. Saturday my son joined us and it was lights out. we boated 60 and lost at least 15-20 more fish not counting those hard one hit wonders. No browns but 11 pike with one at 31 inches the other by my son at 32. Biggest rainbow went to Jerry at 23 inches and I got the big cutbow at 24.5 I have to admit Diggins catching his first Spinney brown must have given him some edge as he caught about half of the 60 fish we boated Saturday. Weather Saturday was warmer but windy with the front moving in but fishing was well worth it. Today we woke to 25 plus winds and a foggy ice mist. We decided not to fish as both Diggins and my son had a long ride ahead of them. Great mini trip and cannot wait for the next time we can get together
