Lake: Horsetooth Reservoir

Fished horsetooth saturday and talked to a tourny angler who said caught some good sized wiper. Got me thinking that the stacked fish at 40-60 fow, that never bite, might be wiper, not gizzard shad. Anybody ever figure out whats down there in the depths?

Not gizzard shad, smelt are the deep fish you mark at 40-60 feet.

They only stocked a small batch of wipers in the last decade though there are a few white bass/wiper H2 hybrids roaming. The wipers they stocked as 8" two years ago are likely what the tourney guy encountered...they're about 14-16" now. CL

Valdy, that link doesn't take you to the article, just to Wikipedia story of the day. Repost if you can please. Thanks!
