Yampa by Steamboat

Post By: mike2_72      Posted: 10/8/2019 6:19:02 AM     Points: 83
Fished the Yampa through Steamboat both Saturday and Sunday morning for a few hours. It Was cold when I got there and the eyes on my rod were freezing up until about 8:30. I was just spin fishing and fished floating raps in various colors. Managed quite a few nice browns in the 18-20 range and a few nice rainbows in the 14-16 range. All in all it was a great couple of mornings.

Nice Mike! I've been waiting since the closure of the river in the summer to get back over and fish. You made up my mind I gotta fish yampa this weekend. I bet I wont have to cast in between the tubers this time. haha.

"Just" spin fishing? Never apologize for spin fishing! In no way is it a lesser form of fishing. ) Anyway, nice haul! I'll be out there this next weekend as well. Did you hit any pike with the Raps?

Steve, I never meant it like that but as I read it back it does sounds like that. No way of fishing is lesser than any other for me, whatever catches fish works for me. I didn't get any pike or see any follow. I did have some follows from larger browns, I would have liked to sink my hook into.

I like your attitude, (mine too) anything that catches fish I will use. I can fish using just about any method in lake or stream so I am not committed to any one method. Some times I will select one method to use just because I want to fish that way, at least for awhile. If this method isn't working I can always try something else. Congrats on the nice fish and thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on a nice catch Mike. Your last picture looks like you were fishing more than through town. Way to go.

Just funnin with ya! The superior fishing method is the one that catches the most fish in the conditions. Sometimes that's a fly, sometimes it's spinnin!
