Lake: Two Buttes Reservoir

Dried up???

I was at two buttes about a month ago and the deepest part of the lake was only seven feet and it was dropping. This is such a good little fishery and I was curious if anyone has been recently to check on it. If it hasn't got any water this might be its last winter.

Last available CPW survey, 2018, says they were hoping for precip to save it. They did not get it. I've not heard anything encouraging about it this summer.

But that's what Two Buttes does, right? It's filled by surface runoff I believe, and dry about a quarter of the time. Big water this year in the mountains could not help it. It's a bummer.

Ya it’s just a shame that it can only be fed by local rainfall and that the dam needs repairs before it can hold water at full capacity. It also doesn’t help that the gate on the dam was consistently leaking water when I was there last. Hopefully they will at least attempt to salvage some of the fish and move them to John Martin or somewhere.
