Lake: Meadow Park Lake

idiots hit our pond

Post By: bron      Posted: 9/22/2019 6:45:13 PM     Points: 38411
We fished Meadow Park Pond today and apparently they had an area 51 party there this weekend. We showed up to find a duck decoy, a volleyball with cd's attached, and a neon green foam square stationary by the inlet. there were countless cd's thrown into a tree with a 'twinkle tree' sign on it. We managed to clean the lake but the tree I couldn't help. My son reeled in a decent bass along with the volleyball and brick, made for an interesting battle. I saved the decoy for Goosehunter--if any of the rest belongs to you please contact me.

“Save The Environment” Sad that there can’t be a proper balance in common sense! I find trash in almost every one of my favorite fishing spots, especially cigarette butts,Gatorade bottles, and empty beer cans crushed but left there!!! Bron - Thanks for cleaning up after the senseless ones!

People have been slobs as long as there have been people. Doing research on my relatives I came across this article from Grand Junction in 1893. Seems pertinent.

shiver,
There are people who believe the “rules” don’t apply to them. Age old problem

Thanks for being there for the cleanup bron. At least it didn't scare the fish.

Speaking of trash, I suspect it is bait-dunkers! Now, before you all get up in arms about this statement, let me direct your attention to South Park. There are three lakes up there, Elevenmile, Spinney, and Antero. Spinney is flies and lures only...no bait is allowed. Along the shores of Spinney, there is very little to no trash. But visit Antero in the summer, and you almost need to clean up a spot on the shore before wetting a line.

Now I'm not saying YOU, or ALL bait-dunkers are pathetic slobs, but how else does anyone account for the VAST difference in cleanliness between these lakes? I know everyone here is a perfect gentleman, and would never leave a speck of plastic trash along our lovely lakeshores, but Jeez, the amount of worm cartons and Powerbait jars left EVERYWHERE at Antero and Elevenmile is just stupefying!! When I left Spinney yesterday, I had a trash bag from my boat, and was gonna do a little lakeside cleanup on my way to the trash station, and there was hardly anything to gather.

It was not bait dunkers or any fishermen. There's a frat house/dorm next to the lake and I'm sure they did it. Look at the debris--decoys and volleyballs tethered with bricks?
