Iím going to be in Craig later this week, how is fishing on the Yampa? Iíve heard small mouth and crappie can be caught. Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge?
Thanks

Never seen a crappie come out of the yampa, and they have decimated the small mouth population. Fishing is descent. Still can find a smallie, or pike from time to time, would target browns. Loudy Simpson park and south beach access(take hwy 13 south of first right after first bridge only a few miles out of town ). West on 40 has a couple access points towards hayden that are good too.

Yeah, i would go east of town and target brown trout, starting with the Yampa River State park access. Reaction baits like Rapalas and spinners ought to be working. Streamers with a flyrod. Good Luck!!
