Lake: Lake John

sporadic means nonexistent

Post By: hunter creek      Posted: 8/20/2019 7:19:10 PM     Points: 2286
I've read the Denver Post fishing report recently and it lists the fishing in Lake John as being sporadic. From what I saw today that means no action at all. I trolled for four hours without a bite and I saw no one els catch even a single fish. Any guesses as to what is going on up there?

The fish are well fed from natural forage in the summer. You have to show them something better than real food.

I promise you, there are still trout in there!

If your not fishing in the weeds , your not catching fish .

Only nonexistent or other synonym, means nonexistent.
Sporadic means try something else, or another time/place on the lake.

Just joshin'! I know how frustrating it can be...

FMFO - you don't say? Wonder if that could be true in other bodies of water? lol

Hey Jim , I will be at Lake John this Saturday and I will be fishing deep in the beds . Lol. Trolling doesn't get you down to where you need to be in the North Park lakes. :)

I skip North Park until it gets colder. The weeds are thick now as well as the blood sucking bas^%$#@!!!! They find the smallest crevice to bore in and bite the crap out of me. Im the only person in Colorado with this rare blood type. Im whats for dinner.!!

I think you might be doing it wrong....lol. j/k. Next time, try the simple lindy rig w/ a night crawler... I guaranty you'll catch some fish.. add more weight to get down deeper. pay attention to speed.

Thanks for all the tips. I may try it again this fall and will try to be a bit smarter. BTW I know there are fish in there as I could see them on the finder. They seemed to be spread fairly evenly throughout the north half of the lake.

Does anyone know why CPWs website shows 2017 as the last year Lake John was stocked? Is the website accurate, and if so, why are they not stocking it?

CPW's website must be inaccurate, they stocked around 400k in 2018 and it's been stocked 3 times already in 2019
