Lake: Spinney Mountain Reservoir

Good Day with Bron and the Captain

Post By: SGM      Posted: 8/13/2019 4:32:44 PM     Points: 8417
Spend yesterday at Spinney with Curtis and Blake and as usual we had a great time. Landed 15 fish with 10 being small pike, 4 nice cutbows and one rainbow. Bite was slow but the weather was nice and very few folks on the water. Tube jigs and in line spinners did the best for us. Lake is very weedy so pulled lots of salad in too. Blake did a fine job netting fish and eating everything possible on the boat.

Sounds like a great time! I was up there for a kayak tourney on Saturday. Got into a really fun pattern for big trout. I was watching for actively feeding trout (on the surface) and casting to one side of them or the other and hoping that I guessed right...and when I did I wound up with a 21-22.5” cutbow! Such a blast and I wish I could have stayed with that pattern but I had 4 trout on my card for 86” at 9am and needed to go find a good pike fill out my limit. Unfortunately that never materialized and I wound up with a 15.25” pike that I couldn’t upgrade from.

We always have a great time fishing with you Russ! I'll get those tube jigs figured out eventually.

Thanks guys.

Panfish, looks like you had a good day too. I think our best pike was about 16 inches. Had one one that looked about 30 inches but its teeth won that battle.
