BM Koke Report

Post By: dallsheep      Posted: 6/24/2019 3:06:30 PM     Points: 0
Anybody having luck at BM for Kokanee? I was there over Father's day and struck out on Kokes but caught quite a few trout on my lures. Much different than previous years.

Iíve seen a well known guides FB posts showing Kokanee limits for almost two weeks, I assume trolling. No other info, though, like depths or colors.

Kokes are good sized as well!

Me and my son were their the week before Fatherís Day and got a lot of browns and rainbow trout and 6 Kokanee. After trolling the first day 3 colors out we heard 1 -2 and we started catching Kokanee. Squid and shoepeg was what we got everything on between elk creek marina and middle bridge

Tried it again over the fourth and still struggled. We caught a couple on pink and orange. Talked to some locals and they even said it was tough fishing this year. Once the runoff subsides, maybe the fishing will start heating up. The rivers are still running high.

I fished it this weekend as well and it was slow going. Some can still be caught. Pink and Orange were good for us as well.

Trolled Lake Fork area July 9 to July 11. Targeted Kokes, but caught mostly Macs with a few Browns and a few Kokes. Seems like the Mac population is overtaking the Kokes - reminds me of Grand Lake, Shadow Mtn. and Granby of 45 years ago versus now. The water level is high (full) and the incoming water is fast and carrying debris.

Going up next week. Whats "working" for the kokes? Arni, hoochies, wed rings? seems to change each year and this year the reports are the fishing is "different" due to high water. Any info would be great. Thanks
