Lake: Joe Wright Reservoir

Cameron Pass Winter Conditions Yesterday

Came over Cameron Pass yesterday on the way home from the western slope. Temp was 32 degrees and snowing hard! Joe Wright has fishable water around the inlet and along the north shore. It is still about 75% ice covered but it looks like one day of good wind and it would be gone. Quite a bit of snow remaining around the lake.

Any chance of getting a kayak down there? And,where would be the best place to park?

We fished Joe Wright on Saturday in the snow. The lake was basically completely free of ice aside from a little by the dam. You can park right by the reservoir in the parking areas and walk in no problem. You should be able to carry a kayak in too.

Makes you wonder if we are in for a very hard winter.

Thanks jmkratt, is that north parking lot?

Well there is so much snow up there that people were just pulling off the road and parking on the north side of the reservoir, both by the dam and closer to the inlet, which was raging.

Between Thursday evening and Sunday morning the grayling went deep.

Yeah we didn't even see a fish Saturday. We went to the other lakes and had better luck.
