More fantastic Customer service

when I read xavier thread about his fly rod getting broke, it literally brought water to my eye. Back when we did the get together at John Martin, I was getting off the lake and my wife volunteered to help me and grabbed my rods. Well she had one of those, "it seemed like a good idea at the time" moments. To keep the rods from being blown over.. she opened the truck door to protect them from the wind.. See where this one heading? Yep door broke them both! One was my very favorite rod out of my extensive arsenal!!! It's the one I caught that beautiful brown on and every time I touched it, that memory would fill my mind along with so many other priceless moments.

One was a St Croix and the other a Daiwa. If you're familiar with St Croix.. you know that $85 later they replaced my rod no problem.

Daiwa doesn't have quite the warranty service St Croix does so I was concerned. Well I called my secret contact there at Daiwa and explained the situation. Daiwa replaced the rod for $130. I was and am elated as I thought for sure I would have to replace the rod at retail price.

Needless to say, both companies treated me great and as per normal, I love products from both of them.

If you ever wonder why I recommend these products so often.. this is a large reason why. Good companies stand behind their products... even when it's me that screws it up! lol

That insurance . Kinda comes with the added cost of a name brand rod. But it is nice to have when ShT happens. And it.. DO..happen. We were fishing Harvey Gap. Wife wanted to get something out of the truck. Opened the door on her side. Couldn't reach it.Set her rod (brand spanking, never used, new AVID ) inside the door and started to go over to the other side. Yep, Just like you said, S.N.A.P ! I think we all are guilty of that trick ( I am ) She just wasn't lucky that day. Another time. I was changing a spool on my shimano reel.Dropped the spool cap. dam thing couldn't just fall in the 4' bare spot at my feet. Noooo! It had to roll off "somewhere " into the tall grass. Never to be seen again ! They sent me a replacement, no charge. Not even for the cost to mail it. Just shows. Mother Nature can have an ..evil.. sense of humor !

Like you said. Good companies stand behind their stuff. Glad they took care of you.

This post reinforces the fact that the Buick fish has broken more rods than any other species.

I have a couple Diawa rods on injured reserve. Do have a special contact number for them? I would appreciate it.

Bill - that sir is a FACT

FishMohr - don't know what rods you have but these companies have more wiggle room when you have their higher end rods. Bear in mind, you do have to pay for shipping to get it there. If it's something like just the tippy top, they are easy to replace yourself. Maybe you have eyes that need replaced? If you don't want to do it, call Rick's rods.. they do some great work at good prices. If I were you, I'd call Daiwa warranty service center. Their warranty specifically states not to cut up the rods to send in.. but after speaking on the phone with them, they allowed me to cut mine up so I could save a bit on shipping costs.
