Switching to electric?

Post By: GoNe_FiShIn_11      Posted: 6/11/2019 12:56:55 PM     Points: 5015
I come across this motor on eBay. Wonder if it would be a good move from gas to electric. I'm sure it would be fine for cruising on nice days but would it get you off the lake when that storm rolls in?

The link you share is for a just transom-mount trolling motor. Read my link to see how trolling motors compare to outboards, and how to convert electric trolling motor power into horsepower.

There's nothing like having the power of a gas outboard when you need to get off quick. If the boats big enough put gas and electric on the transom.

Not only does that thing probably not have the power to overcome wind and boogie back to the ramp... but donít forget about the weight of 4 batteries to provide it 48v..

Gas on the back, electric on the front.

My bow mount is a 101lb 36v and I sure would hate to only have that to get home safe in the wind.
