My wife and 10 year old granddaughter and I fished Miramonte Reservoir today from 8 till noon. The wind was already about 10 mph when we got there, made it tough to hook the fish on the marabou and tube jigs we used to imitate the many crawdads the lake is known for. We finally found some active fish after getting skunked the 1st hour at my normally good ice off spot. The ice went off Wednesday. There are 4 species of trout there, in the spring we fish for browns since the bows, cuttts n cutbows are spawning. Still, we ended up catching 6 bows with eggs that we released, along with 6 browns from 14” to 20”. The red meat is some of the best eating trout on the planet. My wife stayed with a crawler and power bait and only ended up with a big crawdad for her efforts, but the Granddaughter landed 3 browns and a bow. We left at noon thirty when the wind escalated to whitecap the lake. Still a wonderful day at a great little lake.
