Lake: Miramonte Reservoir (Dan Noble SWA)

Windy but fun day at Miramonte

Post By: Digginjiggin      Posted: 4/20/2019 5:50:39 PM     Points: 307
My wife and 10 year old granddaughter and I fished Miramonte Reservoir today from 8 till noon. The wind was already about 10 mph when we got there, made it tough to hook the fish on the marabou and tube jigs we used to imitate the many crawdads the lake is known for. We finally found some active fish after getting skunked the 1st hour at my normally good ice off spot. The ice went off Wednesday. There are 4 species of trout there, in the spring we fish for browns since the bows, cuttts n cutbows are spawning. Still, we ended up catching 6 bows with eggs that we released, along with 6 browns from 14 to 20. The red meat is some of the best eating trout on the planet. My wife stayed with a crawler and power bait and only ended up with a big crawdad for her efforts, but the Granddaughter landed 3 browns and a bow. We left at noon thirty when the wind escalated to whitecap the lake. Still a wonderful day at a great little lake.

Hurry grandma, take the picture, this thing is slimey! And Becky doesn't seem too pleased either. 😆

But a nice day fishing anyway, even if the weather turned cruddy. They sure grow fast in that lake. Speaking of growing fast, the Granddaughter is getting big. You should see my oldest grandson, he is almost as tall as I am.

Bron: thanks, just being outside in that place makes us smile!

Russ: I suggested that and she said if we did then she would get a belt!

Fred: yes on both counts. I figured you would have done the math and counted those slimer eggs at least 50 percent so I could get YOUR belt back!

Brad: thanks for the heads up of the ice off. Ive made that drive and seen it totally iced over.

Jerry, is there anywhere you go that you DON'T catch fish? :>) Headed that way shortly. Yes the wind blows down there often.
