First time on the St. V

Post By: Ty6      Posted: 4/12/2019 8:58:11 PM     Points: 85
I fished the St. V by Longmont res yesterday on the 11th. It looked like the flows were up a little from last week anyway. I got a small brown below Longmont res on a small nymph and landed a bigger brown at the inlet of Longmont res on an RS2. They were feeding on emergers but were really soft mouthed, I missed a bunch of hits. I had a lot of fun.
Does anyone have any experience fishing Ralph Prince Res? Is it mostly browns in the lower St. Vrain?

Ty6,

I fished the stretched from ralph price down to Longmont res a few times last year. I caught mostly cutbows and a couple browns. Largest was 14in. I havent fished ralph price but walked around it. Talked to a few guys who said since the flood fish have been smaller and it's just starting to come back. Also there are several mountain lions in the area so keep an eye out if your there late. Just passing along what I've heard, no experience. Just in case u didn't know you need to purchase a pass to fish ralph price.

Hey Ty6, get in touch with the skipper for Ralph Price, sure he could answer any questions you might have.

Gurnman is correct. You need a special license to fish Ralph Price. They are $30 for non Longmont residents. The rangers are pretty good about checking. It also doesnít open for fishing until May 1st and is artificial flys and lures only. Hit me up on my skipper link and I can fill you in a little more. Iíve mostly caught rainbows in there but there are some real nice browns swimming around.
