Since Pathway and I seemed to have patterned some crappie well enough at one of the state parks I decided it was time to get one of the grandsons on to some. I also knew that getting a 10 year old to see or feel a very light crappie bite might be a challenge. He spent the night with grandma and I so his parents didn't have to get up early to get him ready. Pathway, the grandson and I arrived just before the first hint of light. It didn't take long to locate the school. I spent some time showing him how the fish finder worked and our technique for catching the buggers, then I let him at it. He did very well and had some on the ice in short order. There were two or three times all three of us had one on at the same time. We fished until about 11:30 when the wind and rain showed up. The grandson had a great time and he caught about 30, keeping ten to take home. A white tube at 20'-25' was the ticket.
