How's the ice/fishing at Evergreen?

Post By: Kezmo      Posted: 3/4/2019 11:10:16 AM     Points: 35
Hi all - I've been fishing the daylights out of Manitou Lake recently and have been having great success.

I have a couple of buddies that want to do some ice fishing and we have chosen Evergreen Lake as our next destination. I haven't seen many updates or posts about this lake.

Can anyone share their experiences?

Ice thickness?
mealworms, wax worms, butter worms, night crawlers, etc. - what's working best?
I usually fish 50-100 yards down from the inlet near bear creek rd.

Thanks in advance!

Reports haven't been good, but not to many have posted.

We are headed out tomorrow so will let you know. Was out 2x in the past 3 weeks and day one was SUPER slow and day two we caught 5 browns and rainbows, stocker size. Not sure if you will be able to fish in your spot due to the ice skating rink, think you will need to head further East toward the dam.

Rodolana - Thanks for the reply.

Let me know how you guys did today. I'm going to give it a couple hour test run tomorrow before my outing on Saturday morning. So I'll be sure to update once I get back tomorrow.

Yeah, that's where I typically have posted up on the lake in the past. I have never fished over by the ice skating rinks. I usually post up anywhere from the dam all the way along the road to the west by the parking lot area north of Bear Creek rd.

Tight lines, my friend!

It's probably going to be a slushy mess at least Saturday.

Ice was 24" thick last Saturday, March 9th. Bite was slow. Missed a few strikes and landed 2 rainbows and 1 gigantic sucker. We fished from 0730 - 1130. Ice is still probably plenty thick, but to echo an earlier mention, watch the shoreline it's thin ice.

Fished the bottom in about 12-14 FOW with a yellow/green and yellow/orange jig tipped with butterworms. We used mealworms as well, but the fish were caught on the butterworms.
