Not catching bluegills in the snow is still fun!

Took grandsons fishing at a small pond where the ice was gone. It was forecast to be sunny and 40 degrees, but started snowing just as we got set up. I suggested we come back a different day, but they said, "No, we came here to fish!"

Stayed about a half hour with grandma shivering in the car, and the boys wrapped up in blankets asking "Why are the fish not biting?" Finally went home, but with no fish.

Picked up some cod fillets and a bit of salmon on sale at the grocery store. Got them soaking in brine now. I'll put them in the smoker later. Guess that will have to do for now. Waiting on warmer weather.

Just got the fish out of the smoker. Very delicious. Almost makes up for being skunked at the pond. Almost.

You didn't catch a single fish but you'll always remember that trip!
Good job!
