Carefeul ice fishing

Post By: Angler Jack      Posted: 1/14/2019 9:11:15 AM     Points: 431
Went out sunday the 13, caught 8 between 4 of us. But the ice was very slushy and two of us actually fell in. One happened about 2 feet from shoreline, the other one happened about 30 feet out from shore. The ice is very sketchy right now and the ice is not a consistent thickness right now. I drilled a hole with my auger and it was only 3-4 inches max. Is this common here or is it just because it was warm the last week and then snowef?

Front range ice isn't worth it, IMO. This is common here.

All the Metro ice has been declining over the last 7 years.

Thanks so much for the post. Was heading up there this morning with my two boys but I think we'll head elsewhere. Called the lake yesterday and they were very nice but said there was 12"? Thanks again.

This is kind of an old post about this lake. Conditions may have changed a bit.
