Spinney Mountain Ice OUT 2019

Post By: Anteroman      Posted: 1/6/2019 10:20:37 AM     Points: 3550
OK fellow fish heads, it's that time of year again. The annual SPINNEY MTN. Ice Out contest starts with this post and will run until Feb. 15, 2019.

PLEASE CHECK THE ALREADY PICKED DATES BEFORE YOU CHOOSE!

Contest picks must be in by Feb. 15. Winner this year will receive a Beautiful medium weight Shimano Rod with a Penn reel spooled with 10# Pro Braid.
I bought this rod for pike fishing in South Park but never used it, my current PB pike was last year on a 5 1/2' U/L spooled with 4# braid (42" and 23#)........go figure?

One day per person, good luck and hopefully see you on the water with,
Tight lines and smooth drags.

It is quite apparent that absent some extreme geologic activity (volcano) or a thermonuclear war, that the early-to-mid March Timeframe will not happen this year.

How thick is that ice as we speak?

Spicy,
That looks like hell to me, and by the way if I get stuck there I'm bringing a supply of Rum and Bourbon, how else could I stand the ice?

Looks like we'll be headed back mid April, hopefully all that booze chiller will be gone by then?

I've gotten reports that Spinney as well as Antero and 11 Mile are still covered with ice, a week ago I spoke with a friend at Antero and he said still 20 +/- inches and snow cover, not good for the oxygen level but hopefully the extra two feet of water will help some with winter kill. Looking like late April or possibly May this season?
See you on the lakes.
