Spent a great day with my son on the ice. We stared at Pearl. It was a balmy minus 18 when we arrived. Fishing was slow but we each managed a 15 in grayling and I got one 14 inch cutthroat. It was on my bucket list to get a grayling thru the ice so at least I can scratch that off. About 10 we decided to leave as the little bit of a bite died. It had now warmed up to minus 12 so we decoded try Steamboat. Fished from about 11 until 330 landing 4 cutbows and 11 rainbows between us. Most ran 14 to 16 with a few 18 inchers in the mix. Orange jigs with a white 1.5 tube jig and a waxing was best for us in 15 to18 FOW. Ice ran about 9 inches on both lakes and both lakes have a nasty thermal layer that we broke thru walking to and from our spots. Sorry no photos, just to cold for that.
