Lake: DeWeese Reservoir

Ice conditions?

Post By: Ima-IceHole      Posted: 12/27/2018 11:55:25 AM     Points: 50
I am planning to hit Deweese in the morning. Can anybody tell me how the ice is and if the fishing has been any good since the lake is so low?

I was up there on the 24th and it was 6-8 inches by the boat ramp.. edges melt in the warm afternoons but otherwise all was good! Fishing was slow for us but caught a couple.

How was it after all? We are headed there tomorrow. I haven't fished it in a few years.

Ice was 8 to 10" thick every where I drilled. Bite was slow and very light caught 4 bows ranging in size from 12 to 16". Fish were caught in 15 ft of water. Dead sticking with white jigs tipped with wax worms seemed to do the ticket. keep in mind this was 3 weeks ago. Good luck!

I was up there last sunday and posted a conditions report. Small jigs and flashy lures.... some tipped some not..... We caught 9 total for the day. Ice was 10-14 inches and had 6 inches of fresh powder snow. I would guess the snow is a little crusty now since it got warmer this week and sunny. A few pressure ridges popped up. I just followed others tracks until i got my bearings but it was super cold the day we were there so the edges didn't even thaw. I am guessing they are either getting some snow now or will get a little tonight.

I went 1.19.19. fished in 12 fow. only one nibble. set up the hut and saw 2 trout, 1 sm and 2 musky. one was a monster. Nothing wanting anything to do with me. Headed back up this weekend to try and get rid of the skunk.
